Who is Tai Lopez ? | The one thing that made all the difference? | “How’d you get to where you are today?”

I’ve traveled to over 50 countries, interviewed some of the smartest people alive, and recently bought a 700+ million-dollar revenue company. I’ve also started and scaled multiple million-dollar businesses, all while helping thousands of people around the world.

To this day, I continue to get thousands of comments, reviews, and thankful messages from my followers. From helping people make more money or get into better shape, to even avoiding suicide — the results are mind-blowing.

The interesting thing is, I’m not done. I have even bigger plans for the future.
Just wait and see...
When people first hear about me, they often ask:
“How’d you get to where you are today?”
Now, you might’ve heard some of my stories already. But what I haven’t done in a while is write it out. So, I’ll do just that.

Here’s how I went from getting started to where I am today — without being born into wealth or given any handouts.
Growing up I wasn’t super poor, but my family struggled. I was raised by a single mom because my father was in prison.

My bed was a couch inside of a mobile home in Raleigh, North Carolina. The only car I could afford had a hole in it.
Yes, you read that right.
I had to literally keep my feet up while driving — or else I’d lose them.
I did okay in school and only took one semester of college. By the time I was 20, I was working on a farm.

My situation wasn’t the best. I was confused and stuck at times. Lost and unsure because I didn’t have a plan.
But then, one day, someone handed me a book by Tony Robbins. I don’t recall the book’s name.
I don’t even recall what the book talked about, except for this quote that’ll stick with me till the day I die:
“When you fail, you ponder. When you succeed, your party.”

This one quote opened my eyes to the opportunities available to me. It made it clear that because I was broke, I had time to think. I realized that if I’d be willing to do what most people won’t — I’d live the life I want.

So, that’s what I did.
Since I wanted to build wealth, I read biographies about people who did just that. People like Carnegie, Rockefeller, and Ford. I then moved onto reading about things like ventures, assets, and investing.
It didn’t take long to learn the basics of financial planning. To get more experience, I needed a mentor.

Books are helpful, but learning from an expert is often better.
To find a mentor, I scheduled a meeting with a Financial Planning business showing a FULL PAGE ad in the phone book. I figured, if they could afford a full-page ad — they must be successful.

I was nervous about the meeting, but I pushed myself to do it. Besides, what did I have to lose? When you have nothing, you tend to take bigger risks.
When I finally arrived at the office, explaining my idea about working for free in exchange for mentorship to the President of the company, he was surprised.

He looked in my eyes and said:
“Tai... I’ve been waiting for someone like you for 20 years. Come back and see me in the morning.”
I agreed.
The next day, I showed up wearing an oversized suit I bought from the thrift store. It was all I could afford with short notice and little money.

Some people laughed at me for doing this. I’m not sure if it was my clothes or my lack of in-depth knowledge about financial planning. Maybe it was because I was doing something they feared — standing out.
Instead of letting them get in my head, I used their negativity as fuel for growth. I know that one day, my hard work would pay off.

Looking back, I can honestly say it has.
Because of my actions, I began a chain of events that helped me escape the hole I was in. I took myself from broke to living the life I desired, building businesses, meeting mentors, and helping people — all while traveling the world.

The one thing that made all the difference?
The willingness to do what most people won’t — while pressing on when doubted by others.
One of the downsides to life is some people want to hold you back once you start seeing success. They fear those who walk their own path. Because they've given up on their dreams, they don’t want to see anyone else succeed.

I call this the ignorance of our upbringing. At some point, most people stop asking questions and go with what society trains them to think.
I could’ve been learning about money when I was 10 or 12 years old. But instead, I was told to memorize test answers. The school filled my head with things that don't have practical use in the modern world.

But, that’s in the past. It’s important to realize that no matter where you are in life — it’s not too late to get ahead. You can turn your situation around, no matter how bad it seems now.
I’ve seen it happen thousands of times. I’ve met and interviewed some of the most successful people in history. Because I know everyone doesn't have the advantage of meeting mentors, I recorded their lessons — sharing everything I’ve learned.

The internet now makes it possible for anyone to learn. You have the tools you need at your fingertips. Don’t overthink it.
Remember:
The willingness to do what most people won’t — while pressing on when doubted by others — helps you live the life you want.

Stay Strong,
Tai Lopez
P.S. Finding mentors may not be possible right now, due to not having the time because of family or school. That’s why I created an online mentorship program called 67 Steps. With 67 Steps, I and the people I’ve learned from can become your “virtual mentors”. You can access our valuable lessons and insights online anytime you want.

67 Steps started as an experiment, but it’s become one of my most successful programs. Last time I checked, it’s helped over 200,000 people.
To learn how it works, I’ve recorded a free training video.
You can watch it right now, right here:
P.P.S. I know this post is longer than what you normally see on Facebook. I just wanted to clear the air about who I am, what I do, and how I can help you become a successful entrepreneur.

If you’re one of the 200,000+ members of my 67 Steps program, I have a small request from you: leave your feedback about the program in a comment below, so the non-members can hear about it.
As much as I talk about the 67 Steps, the members always explain it better. So if you’ve gone through my program (or you’re going through it now), share your thoughts.
Thank you.
